BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Girls’ golf team opened the 2016 season by sending the A team to play in the Scott Family Invitational hosted by Gull Lake at the Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek and the B squad went to play in the Jackson Northwest Invitational at the Hankerd Hills Golf Course north of Jackson.
The Gull Lake Invitational was cut short due to a large thunderstorm which inundated the course with only a few holes left to go. Combined with all the rain received from Monday’s storm the tournament was cancelled.
Coldwater’s B squad took 10th place out of 14 teams at the Jackson Northwest Invitational shooting a team score of 515. Leading the way for Coldwater was Hunter Jenkot with a 121, Jena Beckhusen and Elloree Madden each shot 130, Abigail Coffing had a 134, and Emma Beckhusen rounded out the scoring with a 151.
Coldwater’s varsity returns to action on Friday at the Western Invitational held at the Arbor Hills Golf Course in Jackson.
