MUSKEGON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson won the Gold bracket of the Muskegon West Michigan Christian Warrior Invitational on Saturday as they defeated Kalamazoo Christian in the finals 15-25, 27-25, 15-5. The win capped off a 6-0 day for the Vikings as they improved to 10-2.
Bronson defeated Traverse City St. Francis (23-25, 25-18, 15-12), Grand Rapids Covenant Christian (25-11, 25-13), Holton (25-15, 25-9), Morley Stanwood (25-15, 25-17) and Kent City (26-24, 25-24) before their win over K Christian in the finals of the tournament which featured some of the top Class C teams in the state.

Coldwater lost to St. Johns 20-25, 25-19, 15-10 in the semifinals of the Cereal City Tournament hosted by Battle Creek Lakeview, In pool play, the Cardinals defeated Climax-Scots 25-7, 25-13 before losing to Lakeview 25-14, 25-21. Coldwater then split with Mount Pleasant 25-18, 19-25 in pool play before defeating them in the quarterfinals 25-18, 25-8.
Coldwater is now 12-3-2 and will host Fremont on Tuesday night.

The Union City Lady Chargers traveled to Battle Creek for the Cereal City Tournament. They finished second in their pool and made it to the Gold Bracket. From there they played the top seed in the bracket Temperance Bedford where they lost in two games 14-25, 17-25.

Coldwater’s J.V. volleyball team went 4-2 and finished second at the Interstate 8 Conference meet at Parma Western. The Cardinals went 2-1 in pool play as they defeated Hastings (25-17, 25-13) and Pennfield (25-8, 25-20) but lost to Parma Western (24-26, 21-25). The Cardinals defeated Pennfield again in the quarterfinals (25-14, 25-22). Coldwater then defeated Marshall in the semifinals (24-26, 25-19, 18-16) before losing to Parma Western in the finals (23-25, 20-25).
Anna Tappenden had 54 digs, 44 assists and 35 kills while Jordan Clemens had 43 digs, 23 kills and six blocks, Carlee Crabtree recorded 55 digs, 31 kills and eight blocks while Mya Tom had 25 digs and 15 aces. The J.V. Cardinals record is now 11-3-2.
Coldwater’s freshman volleyball team finished third at the Interstate 8 Conference meet hosted by Parma Western. Jasmine Coppess had 10 aces, eight digs, 12 assists and five kills, Taylor Wilber had six aces, six digs, three kills and 14 assists, Alexis Davenport had eight kills, eight blocks and nine digs, Kaitlin Meyers had four kills, four aces and five digs while Linzy Monks had five digs, one block, three aces and two kills.
