COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In boys tennis Wednesday, Coldwater opened it’s new Heritage Park tennis complex with an 8-0 victory over Marshall. Winners for the Cardinals:

The Cardinals improved it’s dual match record to 7-1 on the season. Coldwater’s Kam Miller and Shane O’Grady both avenged losses from last week. Austin Butler and Porter Skidmore both improved their records to 10-0.
—CROSS COUNTRY—
Quincy’s boys were seventh while the Quincy girls finished third on Wednesday in a eight team meet at Hillsdale. Nathan Nohr was the top finisher for Quincy in the boys meet as he was fourth with a time of 17:44.97. Hanover-Horton won the boys team title with 30 points followed by Ida with 83 and Jonesville with 108.
Two Quincy girls finished in the top ten Gabby Porter was fifth with a time of 21:27.57 while Meri Michael was eight with a time of 22:11.43. Only 12 points separated the top three teams in the final girls standings. Hanover-Horton won with 44 points followed by Hillsdale Academy with 51 points and Quincy with 56 points.
—GIRLS VOLLEYBALL—
Quincy won a pair of matches on Wednesday at Vandercook Lake. Quincy beat Hudson 2-0 (25-4, 25-11) and Vandercook Lake 2-1 (25-18, 16-25, 15-9). Against Hudson Allison Parshall contributed two aces and six assists, Riley Rakocy had five kills while Hannah Economou and Nicole Jodway had three kills each. Victoria Waligora had two kills and Cailyn Cook added two kills and four assists.
Against Vandercook Lake Jayden Haller and Kaylee Kriser each had two aces, Waligora led with nine kills. Economou had eight kills, Rakocy had four kills, Zoe Aseltine contributed three kills and Cook had 2 kills. Parshall had 23 assists.
—GIRLS GOLF—
Marshall edged Coldwater by one shot to win a junior varsity jamboree on Wednesday which was hosted by the Cardinals. Marshall had a team score of 215 to Coldwater’s 216 followed by Battle Creek Lakeview with 245. Coldwater was led by Ryleigh Collins with a 52, Jena Beckhusen had a 53, Abby Coffing had a 54, Elloree Madden shot a 57. Avery Volkmer had a 59, Emma Beckhusen carded a 62, Sabrina VanAuker shot a 64, Morgan Beckhusen had a 65 and Melissa Vozar rounded out the scoring for Coldwater with a 68.
Coldwater’s JV team will travel to the Lake James Golf course to participate in the Fremont Invitational on Saturday, September10th.
