COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioners will have to trim $4.8 million from the proposed 2017 budget, which is about a half million dollar less than the funds they had to cut in 2016.
Branch County County Administrator Bud Norman laid out the numbers for commissioners last Thursday during their work session. He said budget hearings with most of the department heads lasted for about a month.
Norman pointed out the numbers will fluctuate since not all of the department heads have had budget hearings.
The 2017 proposed budget totals $16.6 million compared to just under $18 million in 2016. But revenues are down from $12.6 million this year to $11.8 in 2017.
Immediate cuts only total $500,000 compared to $1.8 million last year.
