COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Despite outshooting Battle Creek Central 14-2, the Coldwater boys varsity soccer team came away with a scoreless tie Tuesday night. Coldwater came into the game ranked #6 in the first Division 2 Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association poll of the season.
With the tie, the Cardinals fall to 6-1-1 overall. Balal Nasser made two saves in goal for Coldwater. The Cardinals next game is Tuesday, September 13 at home against Marshall to open Interstate 8 Conference play on Youth Soccer Night.
Coldwater won the J.V. match over Battle Creek Central by a mercy score of 8-0. Coldwater outshot the Bearcats 24-2. Dominick Kelly scored a pair goals. Also scoring for the Cardinals were John Aburto, Hunter Eldridge, Koby Stewart, Cade Lawrence, Husam Abdullah and Haroon Alaatre. Goaltenders Alex Schaale and Ahmed Salem each made a save.

Union City split a pair of matches on Tuesday night in Homer. The Chargers started the night against Homer and lost 2-0 (22-25, 20-25). They came back to defeat Jackson Northwest 2-0 (25-18, 25-22). Union City is now 6-7-1 overall.
