STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A crash early Thursday morning in Sturgis during an attempt by a St. Joseph County Sheriff’s deputy to stop a vehicle led to the discovery of what police are calling a “large amount” of methamphetamine and cash.
The Sheriff’s Department says the deputy tried to stop the vehicle on South Street near Cato Lane at around 12:30am.
The suspect vehicle crashed into a tree and the driver tried to make a run for it but was apprehended followed a short foot pursuit.
The meth and cash were found by Sheriff’s deputies and Sturgis Police following a search of the area.
A 46-year-old Burr Oak man was arrested and booked at the St. Joseph County Jail for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, resisting and obstructing, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
A 28-year-old Sturgis woman was also arrested on a possession of methamphetamine charge.
