OVID TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Three persons escaped with minor injuries following a two vehicle crash on Friday morning at the intersection of South Angola and East Central Roads in Ovid Township.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened just before 10:00am when a vehicle on Central Road driven by 67-year-old Earl Wesley DePew of Mongo, Indiana pulled away from the stop sign and into the intersection. Deputies say DePew did not see a southbound vehicle driven by 23-year-old Brittany Lyn Harvey of Fremont before the collision.
A woman was reported to have been unresponsive as the Sheriff’s Department, Lakeland firefighters and Life Care Ambulance headed to the scene but she regained consciousness by the time rescue crews arrived.
DePew along with a passenger in his vehicle, 47-year-old DeWayne Eddy Gillette of Sturgis and a passenger in the Harvey vehicle, 69-year-old Marlene Ort of Fremont suffered minor injuries and complained of neck pain. Ort was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne while DePew and Gillette were treated at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
All occupants in the two vehicles wore their seat belts.
