COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A teenager has been charged in a July 26 Algansee Township break in which led to his severe beating.
18-year-old Connor Adam Rutan turned himself in at the Branch County Jail Monday night and was booked on a warrant for breaking and entering, forced entry.
Rutan posted 10 percent of a $10,000 bond Tuesday. An arraignment in Branch County District Court has not been scheduled.
According to Branch County court documents, authorities say Rutan and another teenager allegedly tried to put marijuana into garbage cans during the break-in of what was described as a legal marijuana grow operation. They were confronted by the property owner and Rutan was struck with what was described as a baseball bat and knocked unconscious.
Rutan was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne where he later recovered from his injuries.
