COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school volleyball, Coldwater defeated Marshall in their first Interstate 8 match-up of the season at home Wednesday night 3-0 (25-21, 30-28 25-21). Coldwater’s record is now 16-3-2. They play again on Saturday at the Portage Northern Tournament.
Sam Rodesiler – led the team in digs with 16
Jasmine Wellet – led in kills with 9
Jamie Wellet – led the team in assists with 17, 8 digs, & 4 kills
Olivia Foley – 12 assists, 4 kills
Tyler Scheid – led the team in aces with 4, led the team in blocks with 4, 5 kills
Drue Mullin – 13 digs, 7 kills
Coldwater won both of the underclassmen matches over Marshall 2-0. The J.V.’s improved to 24-3 as they won 25-19 and 25-23. Hailey Steel had four aces and 11 digs, Emilee Smoker had 10 assists and nine digs while Carlee Crabtree had eight kills, four blocks and five digs.
The Coldwater freshmen improved to 11-7-5 as they won 25-16, 25-20. Bailey Burkhardt had seven kills, three digs and three blocks, Alexa Davenport had four kills and two blocks, Rebecca Robison served 100 percent, Taylor Wilber had two kills while Jasmine Coppess had five assists.
The Bronson JV Volleyball Team also defeated New Buffalo 3-0 (25-10, 25-13 and 25-9)

Every Coldwater singles player won 6-0, 6-0. The 1st, 3rd and 4th doubles won 6-0, 6-0 while the 2nd doubles won 6-0, 6-1. Coldwater is now ranked #10 in Division 3. The team travels to #8 Allegan on Saturday for the Allegan Invitational.

—CROSS COUNTRY—
The Quincy boys were fourth while the girls were fifth on Wednesday at the six school Leslie Invitational. Hanover-Horton won the boys race with 19 points followed by Marshall with 54, Leslie with 76 and Quincy with 105. Nathan Nohr was the top finisher for Quincy as he was eighth. Ian Trail finished in 30th.
Marshall won the girls race with 41 points followed by Leslie with 57, Hanover-Horton with 61, Reading with 101 and Quincy with 104. Gabby Porter had the best finish for Quincy as she was fifth. Harmony Harpster was tenth, Madde Horn was 28th and MaKenzie Blatter was 30th.
—GIRLS GOLF—
Coldwater finished second in the third Interstate 8 Jamboree of the season hosted by Jackson Northwest at the Hankered Hills Golf Course on Wednesday. Coldwater had a team score of 196, just six shots back of first place Hastings. The Saxons finished with a score of 190.
Coldwater was led by Claire Sheppard who fired a round of 44, followed by Micki Slack who shot a 47, Hunter Jenkot carded a 51, Molly Smith had a 54, Jayla Goodwin shot a 55, and Gabriel Boston rounded out the scoring for Coldwater with a 58.

7th grade football fell to Harper Creek 30-22. Coldwater touchdowns scored by Gavin Budd, Cole Barker and Coe Szafranski. 8th grade fell to Harper Creek 12-6. Coldwater touchdown scored by Deandre Douglas. Both play next Wednesday at Pennfield.
