ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A portion of U.S. 20 in the western part of Steuben County had to be shut down early Thursday morning when a semi hauling a load of yogurt rolled over.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened at about 12:20 a.m. on U.S. 20 west of County Road 900 West.
They say the semi wound up on its side after 26-year-old Devin Workman of Redbluff, California told deputies he was driving west when he missed the sharp curve and hit a guard rail.
Workman was checked by Steuben County E.M.S. but he refused medical attention.
The enclosed trailer broke open when it hit the guardrail and rolled over.
U.S. 20 was shut down at times and or was restricted to one lane of traffic for several hours.
As of 5:30 a.m., the Steuben County Sheriff’s office was advising drivers to avoid U.S. 20 between State Road 327 and County Road 900 West due to the crash. They say 20 is shut down and traffic will be detoured for the next several hours.
