LANSING, MI (WTVB) – While about half all Michiganders feel pretty good about the direction Michigan is headed, most still don’t feel all that happy that Governor Rick Snyder is the guy in charge. The latest finding from a statewide poll conducted by Epic-M.R.A. finds that the lingering disappointment in his handling of the Flint Water Crisis and other issues has resulted in about 2/3rds giving him an unfavorable ranking. He is more popular in west Michigan and a lot less popular in Detroit. The area where he is least popular is in northern Michigan where it’s nearly 3 to 1 unfavorable.
47% think the state is on the right track and 68% are satisfied with their personal financial situation. Oddly the most optimistic areas in the state are West Michigan, which should come as no surprise, and Detroit which most would not expect.
No single issue stands out as the most vexing for voters, but there are some surprises their too. The largest number, about 20-percent are concerned about the gap between rich and poor and right behind, folks list bad trade agreements. At the bottom of their concerns at 1% each, folks said bad roads and education.
