COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Planning Commission is scheduled to go over the site plan for a proposed 25,000 square foot building addition at the Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility Monday night. There would also be 42 additional parking stalls as part of the expansion which is expected to lead to the hiring of three or four additional workers. The current work force was listed as 184 employees.
Ground for the expansion was broken September 20, 2016. Maple Lawn was built in 1989 and is being updated in part to meet industry standards. The number of private rooms will increase to 80. There will also be 17 semi private rooms as well as major renovations to the main kitchen. Family meeting and conference space for the dementia and rehabilitation units will also be created.
The Planning Commission is also scheduled to review a site plan from the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities for the $3.3 million expansion of the CBPU’s waste water treatment plant at Jay Street and Riverside Drive. It would be located on the same 69 acre site where the CBPU has several other facilities.
Proposed improvements to the plant will expand the capability of the B.P.U by two million gallons which officials hope will meet growing utility service demands.
