COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man who was arrested last March following a confrontation with police was given a suspended sentence and probation on Tuesday in Branch County Circuit Court.
33-year-old Terry Rudy II entered no contest pleas in August to three counts of resisting a police officer as part of a plea bargain agreement.
Rudy said he was pressured and rushed into a resolution and he wanted to withdraw from the plea agreement but the request was denied by Judge Bill O’Grady who felt the defendant voluntarily entered into the agreement and he was aware of his rights.
Rudy was placed on probation for two years and was given a one year suspended sentenced with credit for 104 days already served.
In exchange for the pleas, prosecutors dismissed a marijuana possession count as well as all other notices and a habitual offender enhancement.
