COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A defendant who was scheduled to be sentenced Monday in Branch County Circuit Court instead withdrew from a plea agreement with prosecutors.
36-year-old Andrew Daniel Colbeck withdrew a no contest plea to a charge of second degree attempted child abuse, which was filed in early August at the time he was supposed to have gone on trial.
A court spokesperson said about 60 potential jurors were dismissed after Colbeck entered into the plea agreement.
It’s not known when his next court date will be on the two original counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct.
Colbeck was arrested in February 2016 following a Michigan State Police investigation into the alleged incidents.
