THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – A Three Rivers man was seriously injured Thursday morning in a St. Joseph County traffic accident after the Sheriff’s Department says he swerved to avoid hitting a deer.
29-year-old Tawron Johnson had to be extricated from his vehicle following the crash which happened at about 5:40 a.m. on Lutz Road north of Roys Road in Florence Township.
Deputies say Johnson was northbound on Lutz Road when he encountered the deer. Johnson crossed the centerline and went off the left side of the road. He then struck a fence and two trees.
They add Johnson was wearing seatbelts. Constantine firefighters and Lifecare Ambulance assisted the Sheriff’s Department.
