COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Clemens Pork Processing facility will be opening up in September 2017. Earnie Meily from the Clemens Food Group says when they open up, the hogs will be coming in from a 150 mile radius.
Ground for the $250 million plant which will provide over 800 new jobs was broken in July of 2015.
Officials say it will be a state-of-the-art, ergonomic facility.
They plan to use automation to replace various manual processes that are typically found in a meat processing facility.
Some of the equipment will include water jet systems that will be used high pressure water to cut boneless meats. Automated scaling and sorting systems will also be used to assure products meet precise weight requirements.
