COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A one time Girard United Methodist Church secretary who is charged with embezzling nearly $37,000 over a six year period waived her Branch County District Court arraignment on Monday.
49-year-old Melissa Ann Rogers of Quincy is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing in District Court on December 1st followed by a preliminary exam on December 8th.
She was charged following a Michigan State Police investigation.
According to court documents, an audit discovered the alleged embezzlement of church funds involving 289 checks between January 2010 and February 2016.
Rogers is free after posting 10 percent of a $25,000 bond.
