COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Court Appointed Special Advocates in Branch County, otherwise known as CASA, is in need of volunteers.
An informational meeting on how to become a CASA volunteer will be held on November 3rd at 6:30pm at the Community Care and Conference Center in Coldwater.
Branch County CASA Supervisor Wendi Paradine says volunteers are specially screened and trained to speak up for abused and neglected children who, through no fault of their own, end up in the foster care system.
She says they need more people in the community to speak up and make sure these children’s voices are heard.
There are approximately 125 children in the child protection system in Branch County, and only eight CASA volunteers to advocate for their best interests.
For more information about CASA, you can call Paradine at 517-279-4316.
