COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- Branch County Administrator Bud Norman told the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session Thursday that they are looking into shrinking the proposed Animal Control Shelter in order to reduce costs.
Norman says more information maybe ready for the Commissioners meeting next Tuesday.
He told the Township Supervisors meeting on Monday night that he thought bids for the new shelter would come in higher than the insurance money following the fire in May of 2015 which heavily damaged the old shelter near Quincy.
Norman said a committee met with a company and asked them to revisit their proposal.
Meanwhile, Norman says there have been discussions with Hillsdale County about a possible partnership.
He is still hoping dirt on the new shelter can be turned in November.
Norman also presented a third draft of the county’s proposed 2017 budget which showed $3.4 million still needs to be trimmed.
In other business during a 90 minute meeting, Commissioners agree to bring a proposed two percent elected officials salary increase for 2017 to Tuesday’s meeting.
Branch County Treasurer Ann Vrablic says the delinquent tax revenue fund for 2016 totals $600.000 which will be turned back to the general fund.
