COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Union City resident was told to serve one year in jail and he was placed on five years of probation on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered a guilty plea to a charge of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct.
19-year-old Cody Edwards entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors last month that called for the dismissal of a third degree C.S.C. count in exchange for his guilty plea.
The victim was between 13 and 16 years old. Her father spoke before the sentence was pronounced while Edwards said nothing in his defense.
He was given credit for 10 days already served in jail. A hearing will be held at a later time to determine if Edwards will have to register as a sex offender.
