COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A four person committee is being sponsored by the Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce to look at potential incentives to help attract businesses downtown.
City of Coldwater Director of Community Development and Assistant City Manager Keith Baker is a member of the committee, and he told the Coldwater Downtown Development Authority board Wednesday his committee plans to make suggestions in a few months.
DDA Board Chairman Brad Rockey said two businesses have looked elsewhere due to incentives that were offered in the other communities.
One business went to Hillsdale, the other went to Three Rivers.
Rockey says Three Rivers has been very aggressive in trying to rebuild its downtown.
The DDA board approved a $10,000 funding request from the chamber for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.
