WHITE PIGEON, MI (WTVB) – A part of White Pigeon lost power Sunday morning when an SUV struck a utility pole. Michigan State Police say alcohol and excessive speed were believed to be factors in the accident.
Troopers report 26-year-old Larry Krotzer of White Pigeon went off of Fawn River Road near Lima Road at about 12:10 a.m.
His 2005 Chevy Equinox struck the utility pole with such force that a second utility pole was damaged.
Troopers say Krotzer fled on foot but was found a short distance away by some residents who detained him for the police.
Krotzer was later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of a serious head injury.
Two other adults in the vehicle were injured. One was ejected. They were both taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
The crash remains under investigation.
