DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – Brandon Tanev scored his second goal of the game and his NHL career with 1:16 left to help the Winnipeg Jets beat the Detroit Red Wings on Gordie Howe night at Joe Louis Arena. It was Detroit’s fourth straight loss after they had won six straight.
Tanev broke a tie on a breakaway, beating Petr Mrazek on the glove side. Tanev’s first goal tied it at 3-3 with 7:36 left. Luke Glendening, Henrik Zetterberg and Justin Abdelkader scored for Detroit. The Wings host Edmonton tomorrow.
The Chicago Blackhawks play at Dallas tonight.
In the ECHL, the Kalamazoo K-Wings defeated Brampton 5-2.
In College Hockey, Western Michigan defeated Miami of Ohio 6-3.
