UNDATED (WTVB) – The voter turnout in Branch County for Tuesday’s election was 57 percent which was higher than the 2012 turnout of 54 percent.
President-Elect Donald Trump carried Branch County as he got 67 percent of the vote. Trump had 11,025 votes compared to 4,740 for Hillary Clinton.
Trump carried of the counties in southwest Michigan except for Kalamazoo County.
Two township supervisors were beaten in Branch County on Tuesday.
David Johnson defeated Matteson Township Supervisor Dennis Schumacher 312-262 while Robin Elizabeth Perry-Brabon was elected Treasurer.
Gary Smith defeated Butler Township Supervisor Reggie Ivey 365-155. Christopher Brenner and Janis Olney were re-elected as Butler Township Trustees.
Coldwater Township Trustees Wayne Kellogg and Mary Daniels were also re-elected.
Incumbents Michael Hagaman and Marc Brand were re-elected to the Quincy Village Council while Rebecca Jo Horn won the third seat up for election by two votes over Lynn Paul.
Gilead Township voters passed a millage renewal for fire protection and equipment while voters in the Union City Community School District approved an 18 mill operating millage renewal.
