COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Planning Commission is scheduled to consider two requests concerning a proposed Child Group Day Care Home on Monday night.Property owners David and Martha Fillmore are asking for a special land use permit as well as an amendment to the Zoning Code for the operation of the home for seven to 13 children in a One Family Residential District.
The home would be located on the Fillmore’s property at 51 North Fremont Street, which is at the southwest corner of Henry Street.
City staff reports that after review of the requested zoning text amendment, they are recommending a redefining of the A-1 One-Family Residential District to allow for the proposed special use.
The report went on to say that Child Group Day Care Homes are consistent with the intent of the zoning designation and are consistent with the character of the neighborhoods currently zoned A-1 One-Family Residential Districts.
The Planning Commission is also scheduled on Monday to review the site plan of the proposed Consumers Energy regional service center which would be built on Jonesville Road across from the Wal-Mart Distribution Center. The 24,000 square foot facility would be built on nearly 70 acres of land.
The center will allow Consumers to consolidate their Bronson and Jonesville operations. It will also be used as an emergency response staging area and headquarters. Plans call for between 30 to 35 employees to work there.
