COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It looks like Branch County got through the first snowfall of the season Sunday with no serious problems.
Perhaps it was lucky the first accumulating snow of this winter hit on a Sunday afternoon and evening when traffic is normally light. Branch County Central Dispatch did not get pounded with a lot of accident reports like what usually happens when the first snow hits.
Even though the roads slickened up, dispatch logs indicate only two accidents were reported from 5:00 p.m. until midnight.
Light snow was reported at the Branch County Memorial Airport from 3:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.
Consumers Energy reports no power outages in Branch County but 269 customers were out in Calhoun County.
Snowfall totals throughout the area mostly ranged from two to three inches although a National Weather Service observer in Coloma in Berrien County reported four inches of snow.
