KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – It took six hours Wednesday to conduct the recount of Branch County presidential ballots.
The recount was moved forward to Wednesday since the Kalamazoo County recount was completed earlier than expected.
Branch County Republican Party Chair Dennis Armstrong says the recount started around 11:00 a.m. and was completed at 5:00 p.m.
He says several precincts were determined not to be recountable for various reasons.
Armstrong said the recount of the remaining precincts was conducted in a very professional manner with very few issues.
The recount resulted, unofficially, in Republican Donald Trump picking up an additional 28 votes while Democrat Hillary Clinton picked up 15 votes.
The final official results are expected to be posted in the next few days on the Branch County Clerk’s website.
