QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy boys basketball team opened its season on a winning note, topping Addition 54-34 Thursday. Will Dunn led the Orioles with 15 points . Addison won the J.V. game.
Union City dropped to 1-1 on the season, falling to Hanover-Horton 74-34 Hanover-Horton also won the JV game 66-20.
In boys junior varsity basketball, Coldwater lost a heartbreaker in overtime to rival Marshall on Thursday night, 41-38. Regulation saw a late surge by the Cardinal defense and key baskets by Logan Worley and Austin Roby to tie the score at 35. Late in the overtime a clean look at a three pointer that would have tied it and forced a second overtime, rimmed out and sealed the Marshall victory. Logan Worley led the Cardinal charge with 10, Austin Roby chipped in 8 and Zach Rigot tallied 5.
in boys freshman basketball, Coldwater lost at Marshall. 54-42. Leading scorers were Dennis Winger and Noah Waterbury with 13 points each. The Coldwater freshman and JV teams play at Parma Western on Monday night.

—GIRLS BASKETBALL—
Bronson improved to 3-0 with a 50-30 victory at White Pigeon. The Vikings led 23-18 at the half and outscored the Chiefs 27-12 after the intermission. Kiana Mayer led the Vikings with 14 points, Kiera Lasky added 13 points while Payton Robinson had 12 points and grabbed five rebounds. Ashton Wronikowski had six rebounds.
Marshall swept the two underclassman games from Coldwater. The Red Hawks won the freshman game 28-21 as well as the J.V. game 36-12.
