COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council Monday night introduced and held a first reading for an ordinance which amends the city’s Zoning Code for the operation of Child Group Day Care homes for seven to 13 children in a One Family Residential District.
The action follows a positive recommendation from the Planning Commission last week. The ordinance is scheduled to come back for second reading and adoption on January 9, 2016.
The City Council also tabled the sale of two vacant lots in the 100 block of Branch Avenue until the meeting on January 23, 2017. The sites are the former location of a residential structure that was demolished in 2015. An offer has been made to the city to buy the parcels at $5,000 apiece.
City Manager Jeff Budd said the properties will not turn into rental units for at least the next decade under terms of the purchase agreement. The potential sale has to be tabled for 30 days under terms of the City Charter.
