COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioners went over a preliminary drawing for a proposed animal control shelter that would be build next to the BranchCounty Jail during their work session on Thursday.
The building will serve both Branch and Hillsdale Counties. Part of the ten year deal calls for Hillsdale County to pay $30,000 a year for the first three years.
That money will be used for the capitalization of the project.
Current plans call for 20 kennels. Hillsdale County Commissioners have approved the agreement. Branch County Commissioners will take formal action once the contract has been finalized.
It was originally hoped ground would have been broken last month but negotiations between the two counties took longer than expected. County Admistrator Bud Norman said now it looks like work on the shelter won’t start until March at the earliest.
