COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater finished fifth out of seven teams on Saturday at the Jackson Lumen Christi invitational which was won by the host team. The Cardinals improved their team score from their first outing by nearly two points, scoring 118.65.
Claire Sheppard and Sarah Hughes tied in their All-Around scores with 30.025 points. It was a personal best total for Sheppard, breaking through 30 points for the first time of her career. Kelani Phillipp also tallied a personal best total points for the second meet in a row with her mark of 29.325. Brooke Neitzert was close behind with a total of 29.275 points for her first outing of the season.
Freshman Dannica Alling posted her first ever all-around tally with 24.85 points just behind teammate Davis who earned 25.25 points.
—WRESTLING—
At the Coldwater Invitational Saturday, the host Cardinals finished in second behind champion Chelsea, finishing with a 4-1 record. Coldwater beat Jackson 53-26, beat Mattawan 39-30, lost to Chelsea 30-27, beat Marshall 56-18, and beat Bronson 46-28. Hamza Muflihi at 112, Zoe Nowicki at 119, Griffen Olmstead at 160, and Sam DeMeester at 189 all went 5-0 on the day. Demeester picked up his 100th career win.
Going 4-1 on the day were Daniel Pino at 125 and Zach Miller at 171.
Bronson went 3-2 at the Coldwater Invitational on Saturday. They defeated Mattawan 39-28, Marshall 54-24 and Jackson 63-18. The Vikings lost to Coldwater 52-22 and to Chelsea 37-33.
Nathan Caudill picked up his 100th career win.
