COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Sturgis man was bound over to Branch County Circuit Court last week on seven charges after he was accused of violently attacking a woman in a Bronson home on Thanksgiving morning.
25-year-old Jose Guadalupe Martinez-Gamez is facing charges of torture, first degree home invasion, assault by strangulation, unlawful imprisonment, interering with a 911 call, aggravated domestic violence and domestic violence following an investigation by Bronson Police.
Because of four additional charges, the bond for Martinez-Gomez has been raised to $250,000.
He is accused of allegedly suffocating a female acquaintance after breaking into her residence.
According to a probable cause affidavit, she managed to get away and go to a nearby service station where an attendant was told to call 911.
Authorities say she had red marks and scratches on her neck following the incident.
A no contact order on behalf of the alleged victim remains in effect. A Branch County Circuit court arraignment has been scheduled for February 6, 2017.
