PLEASANT LAKE, IN (WTVB) – A Pleasant Lake, Indiana man was killed Tuesday night when his 2000 GMC Sierra struck a tree in Steuben County. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says 57-year-old Charles Vilders was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash which took place on County Road 400 South west of Meridian Road just before 6:30 p.m. They say it appears Vilders was traveling west on 400 South when he went off the road for an unknown reason. Vilders was not wearing a seat belt and the air bags in the vehicle deployed. The Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the crash.
