UNDATED (WTVB) – St. Joseph County is included in a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of southwest Michigan and northern Indiana which is in effect from 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon until 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
The National Weather Service says lake effect snow accumulations of one to four inches of lake effect snow is expected along with strong west to northwest winds gusting up to 35 miles an hour which will result in hazardous travel conditions through Friday morning.
Forecasters say the greatest threat of the heavier lake effect snow showers will be from late Thursday afternoon through daybreak on Friday especially along and north of the Indiana Toll Road.
The combination of snow and blowing snow will result in significantly reduced visibilities at times. Visibilities will also vary over short distances due to stronger lake effect snow bands and areas of blowing and drifting snow.
Roads are expected to become snow covered and hazardous late Thursday afternoon into Friday morning.
