SALINE, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school gymnastics, Coldwater lost to Saline Wednesday night as the Cardinals dual meet record dropped to 1-1. Coldwater posted a team total of 114.95 in spite of having a small group due to some injuries.
The Cardinals best score of the night came on the vault where they got 31.45 points. Sarah Hughes and Claire Sheppard both had regional qualifying scores. Hughes was also the top Coldwater scorer on the uneven bars.
Sheppard was third overall in the floor exercise as she had a regional qualifying score of eight points. Brooke Neitzert led Coldwater on the balance beam with a regional qualifying score of 8.075. Neitzert led the all-around for the team tallying 29.175 points followed by Hughes with 29.075.
Coldwater travels to Rockford on Saturday for the annual Flip Flop Invitational with several teams from around the state.
The gymnasts are are also gearing up to host their youth clinic and lessons starting next week. The CHS team and staff will coach at both events starting on Tuesday, January 10 at 5:15 p.m. The lessons will run for five weeks and are opened to children ages 6 on up. The one day clinic is open to kids of all ages starting at two years up through the middle school level.
The youth clinic will take place on Wednesday, January 18 with session 1 starting at 4:30 p.m.and session 2 starting at 5:30 p.m. For more information or to sign up, contact the CHS athletic office at (517)279-5931.

Bronson won a pair of lopsided matches on Wednesday night as they defeated Buchanan 74-3 and River Valley 84-0. Ben Modert, Brendan Withington, Eion Depaz, Dillan Weatherton, Isaac Tappenden, Jacob Butters, Ruger Rainey, Isaac Robertson, Gavin Alger, David Erwin, Chase Gibson and Nathan Caudill all won two matches.
