ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A chase which started in Angola ended in Branch County Sunday morning with the arrest of two persons including a man from Bronson.
Angola Police say they were checking on a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Williams Street Apartments when an officer noticed another vehicle running which had two persons inside.
After asking for identification, a woman got out but the male driver took off.
A pursuit went north into Fremont and Michigan. It lasted for 42 minutes as it went through Branch and Hillsdale Counties.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says speeds reached as high as 75 miles per hour and 60 miles an hour in a residential 25 mph zone.
It ended when the vehicle crashed into a Branch County field off of Southern Road near the Hillsdale County line.
43-year-old Scott Calloway of Bronson is being held in the Branch County Jail on three charges without bond pending his arraignment. The woman who got out of the vehicle in Angola was identified as 44-year-old Diana Rodriguez. She was arrested in a nearby apartment by Angola Police on fugitive warrants out of Elkhart County.
Michigan D.N.R. Officers along with the Branch and Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Departments were involved in the pursuit.
