HASTINGS, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater won its seventh straight game with a 61-44 triumph at Hastings. The game was tied 14-all after the first quarter, but the Cardinals outscored the Saxons the rest of the way 47-30. The Cardinals were without the services of Brady Beckhusen and Cole Targgart, but their teammates picked up the slack. Gage McGuire had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Dylan Targgart had 15 points and 5 boards. Colin Warner scored 11 and had 5 steals; his replacement at the point during the 4th quarter, Damon Beckhusen was our McDonald’s Player of the Game. Coldwater improves to 9-1 overall and are tied with Marshall and Western atop the Interstate 8 standings at 6-1.
QUINCY, MI – The Orioles entertained Big 8 rival Jonesville on Hall of Fame Night and came away with a 55-37 win against the Comets. William Dunn had a team-high 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks, while Nathan Karney had a double-double with 12 points and 10 board to go along with 5 assists and 3 steals as Quincy improves to 6-3 overall, 4-1 in the Big 8.
CASSOPOLIS, MI – Bronson lost at Cassopolis 72-65 to drop to 2-6 overall.

HASTINGS, MI – In girls basketball, Coldwater remains tied with Jackson Northwest for second place in the Interstate 8 following the Cardinals’ 69-42 win at Hastings. Coldwater jumped out to an 18-9 first quarter lead and never looked back, Malorie Rzepka had 12 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals, Carlee Crabtree had 12 of her own while also collecting 7 rebounds and 3 assists, Jamie Wellet had 10 points and 5 boards, and Samantha Rodesiler had 9 points and 3 rebounds. Rzepka and Rodesiler were co-McDonald’s Players of the Game. Tyler Scheid had a team-high 7 rebounds as the Cardinals improved to 9-2 overall. They are tied with Northwest for second place in the Interstate 8 at 5-2, two games behind Marshall.
QUINCY, MI – Quincy couldn’t hold off Jonesville in the Hall of Fame Night opener, as the visiting Comets picked up a 33-23 win. Hannah Economou had 8 points and 10 rebounds, while Zoe Aseltine had 7 points and 6 boards as the Orioles drop to 2-8 overall, 1-5 in the Big 8.
UNION CITY, MI – Reading defeated Union City 40-23 at the McNett Fieldhouse. Dani Cross had a team-high 11 points for the Chargers, who drop to 2-10 overall, 0-6 in the Big 8.
