COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school gymnastics, Coldwater improved their dual meet record to 2-2 with a 126.65 to 124.45 victory over Parma Western Wednesday night.
Claire Sheppard led the Cards on the vault with a second place score of 8.45. Sheppard was top scorer in floor exercise for the Cards with 8.9 points as she also finished second in that event. Sarah Hughes finished second in the uneven bars with a score of 6.975. Hughes went on to post a personal best score of 8.65 on the balance beam as she claimed second place.
Amanda Motts from Parma Western swept the events and claimed the all-around win with 34.45 points. Coldwater claimed the next four spots. Hughes had the highest tally for the Cards, claiming second place with 32.65 points.
Coldwater travels to St. Johns on Saturday for an invitational and they meet the top team inthe conference, Tecumseh, on Wednesday.
All four of the Coldwater bowling teams defeated Marshall at Midway Lanes on Wednesday. The varsity boys are now 6-0 followed their 30-0 win over the Red Hawks. Leading scorer for Coldwater was Alec Keplinger with a 235 game and a 412 series. Jaden Reichhart had a 212 game and a 393 series.
The varsity girls also won 30-0 as they improved to 5-1. Top scorer was Cassidy Wolff with a 211 game and a 391 series.
The boys JV team won their match 30-0 with a 1599 series, bringing their record to 6-0. Coldwater’s Tristan Furney had a 200 game and a 369 series.
Coldwater girl’s JV squad. bowled unopposed bringing their record to 6-0. Hannah Furney rolled a 146 game with a 281 series. Coldwater’s next action is Tuesday at Jackson Northwest.
—MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL—
Coldwater’s 8th grade A team lost to Battle Creek Pennfield 37-31. Mia Rzepka, Madison Beckhusen and Alyssa Bach all scored eight points while Abby Herman grabbed 12 rebounds.
Coldwater’s 8th Grade White team lost to Pennfield 36-20. Joselyn Salto led Coldwater with 14 points.
Coldwater’s 7th grade A team defeated Battle Creek Pennfield 38-17 as they improved to 2-1. Jayla Foster led Coldwater with 10 points,The Coldwater 7th grade B team lost to Pennfield in overtime 17 – 15. Coldwater was led in scoring by Kaylee McBride & Masyn Marsh with four points each,
The Union City 8th grade girls basketball team defeated Athens 32-9. Ava Winstone led the 2-0 Chargers with 15 points.
The Union Cith 7th grade girls team lost to Athens 26-23. Emma Dexter had 12 points for the Chargers.
