COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a Bethel Township man who has been charged with allegedly setting fire to his trailer and resisting police has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court, where a plea hearing has been scheduled for February 27, 2017.
26-year-old Caleb Campbell is charged with arson and two counts of resisting and obstructing.
Michigan State Police say Campbell allegedly made statements to Branch County Central Dispatch on December 28, 2016 about using the police to commit suicide.
Troopers said Campbell allegedly set his Block Road trailer on fire and then refused orders from police to remove his hand from his pocket.
Campbell is also accused of resisting efforts to be handcuffed by State Police and Branch County Sheriff’s deputies. A State Police trooper suffered a minor injury during a brief struggle.
