ST JOHNS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater gymnastics team finished third at the St. Johns Invitational Saturday with a score of 119.9. The co-op team of Haslett/Williamston/Bath won the competition, followed by East Lansing.
Claire Sheppard, Sarah Hughes, and Abby Covert claimed three of the top twelve spots in the all-around competition. Sheppard earned a third medal at the meet with a personal best of 31.975. Hughes picked up fourth place honors overall at 31.75. Covert was 12th place with a score of 25.7.
Sheppard was third in floor exercise while Hughes was ninth.
Hughes was third on the vault while Sheppard was fifth as Coldwater had their best of the day in that event.
Hughes was sixth on the uneven bars while Erica Rodgers was eighth.
Sheppard was fifth on the balance beam while Hughes was 12th.
The Coldwater gymnasts have a conference meet at Tecumseh on Wednesday. They will host their annual Stick It For a Cure competition on February 11. The silent auction begins at 11:00 a.m. and the public is invited to join in on the fun. All of the proceeds from the auction event, as well as other activities, will be donated directly to the CHC Oncology Center for local patients.
