RIVES JUNCTION, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals suffered a stunning loss at Jackson Northwest on Friday night as the Mounties rallied from a 32-21 halftime deficit to beat the Cardinals 61-58. The loss dropped the Cardinals back into a three way tie for first place in the Interstate 8 as both Marshall and Parma Western won. All three teams are 8-2 in the conference. It was a bitter loss for the Cardinals as they lost to a team that they had beaten by 30 points last month and a team that had won only two games all season. Northwest turned the game around with a 23-12 third quarter and then outscored Coldwater 17-14 in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals were also guilty of 19 turnovers. McDonald’s Player of the Game was Coldwater center Gage McGuire who finished with 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists and four steals. Dylan Targgart had 14 points and four steals. Coldwater’s overall record drops to 12-3.
Concord 48, Union City 46 (OT)
The Chargers came close to upsetting the Big 8 Conference leaders but the Yellow Jackets rallied for the win. Larson Kever led the Chargers with 13 points. Union City is now 6-9 overall and 2-7 in the Big 8. Concord won the J.V. game 61-36. Jacob Watson had 14 points for the Chargers.
Quincy 70, Springport 31
Quincy romped to a 70-31 victory over Springport as the Orioles improved to 11-4 overall and 8-1 in the Big 8. William Dunn had a double-double for Quincy with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Nathan Karney added 14 points.
Bronson 62, Mendon 61 (OT)
Ethan Cossairt led Bronson with 17 points as the Vikings snapped a three game losing streak. The Vikings are now 5-11.
Camden-Frontier 61, Tekonsha 32
Connor Jenkins had nine points and six rebounds for the Indians while Calvin Blue had eight points. Tekonsha is now 7-9 overall and 4-7 in the SCAA.

Coldwater jumped out to a 14-4 first quarter lead and went on to win at Jackson Northwest 49-39. The Cardinals ten point halftime lead was cut to one but Coldwater scored the last nine points of the game as they hung on to improve to 13-3 overall and 7-3 in the Interstate 8. Coldwater is tied for second place in the conference with Northwest. Malorie Rzepka led Coldwater with 14 points and five rebounds while Carlee Crabtree had 12 points and five rebounds. McDonald’s player of the game Tyler Scheid had eight points and nine rebounds. Northwest played without leading scorer Sydney Shafer who was out sick.
