COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Director of Public Safety Mark Bartell told the Coldwater City Council on Monday night that teamwork with other agencies led to the arrest of two suspects following a series of robberies in the area about a year ago.
He mentioned during his annual public safety and police department report to the council that a task force led to the apprehension of the suspects following the holdup of the Century Bank and Trust branch in Quincy.
There were five robberies reported in Coldwater in 2016 compared to one in 2015.
In another high profile case, Bartell says citizen involvement led to arrests in a gas skimming investigation.
The total number of criminal complaints handled by Coldwater Police dropped in 2016 to 1,618 compared to 1,726 in 2015
The department handled just over 10,000 calls for service last year which was 138 calls less than 2015.
The number of traffic accidents in the city went up from 495 in 2015 to 516 in 2016. There were no fatal crashes and 52 injury accidents last year.
