MONTGOMERY, MI (WTVB)- An alleged non-compliant registered sex offender who was wanted in Indiana was captured Wednesday in Branch County’s California Township.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says 58-year-old Steven John Gollnick of rural Fremont, Indiana was found in the 700 block of Hamman Road and apprehended just before 5:00 p.m. by the Branch County Sheriff’s Office without incident.
Gollnick was found after Branch County deputies got a tip from their counterparts in Indiana concerning his whereabouts.
Gollnick was also wanted out of Hillsdale County and was transported there on the Michigan charges. Gollnick will be held in Hillsdale County as he awaits extradition back to Steuben County.
Gollnick is facing a Steuben County charge of failure to register as a sex or violent offender which is a level 6 felony in Indiana.
A warrant for his arrest was issued after he allegedly failed to appear in person at the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office to complete his quarterly required sex offender registration.
