JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater ended a three game losing streak with a 59-24 thumping of Jackson Lumen Christi on Tuesday night. Coldwater jumped out to a 19-6 first quarter lead and built their advantage to 35-12 at the half. Three Cardinals finished in double figures led by Dylan Targgart with 14 points. Gage McGuire added 11 points while Brady Beckhusen had 10 points. All three players each had five rebounds. McDonald’s Player of the Game Damon Beckhusen had six points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals. The Cardinals are now 13-5 overall and 9-4 in the Interstate 8.
Lumen Christi won both of the underclassman games. They took the JV game 54-46 and the freshman game in overtime 56-45.
Athens edged Bronson last night, 62-61. Ethan Cossairt led Bronson with 16 points. The Vikings are now 5-13.

Coldwater got back on the right track as they built a 32-15 halftime lead and went on to defeat Jackson Lumen Christi 59-35. Tyler Scheid led Coldwater with 12 points while Malorie Rzepka had 11 points and five steals and Emilee Smoker grabbed six rebounds. Coldwater improves to 14-5 overall and 8-5 in the Interstate 8.
Coldwater won the JV game 55-10. Taylor Wilber was the leading scorer with 11 points while Autumn Sunderland had 10 points.;Homer 51, Quincy 24
Homer jumped out to a 29-9 halftime and went on to defeat the Quincy Orioles 51-24 on Tuesday night. The Orioles only shot 22 percent from the floor and committed 25 turnovers. Katie Rathbun led the Orioles with six points while Claire Supianoski had five rebounds and Payton Hines had four assists. Quincy drops to 7-12 overall and 5-8 in the Big 8.
And Athens defeated Union City 54-24. Autumn Carpenter and Allison Adams both had five points for the Chargers.

In bowling, The Coldwater Junior Varaity bowling squads traveled to Sterling Heights over the weekend to compete in the J.V. Team and Singles Championships. The girls qualified 4th in the qualifying team event to make the top 8 and moved on to match play which was a two game baker format. . After the two game elimination round, Lakeland High defeated Coldwater 315 to 252. In the singles portion, Addison Harvey finished third in the qualifying round with a 535 series. In head to head competition, she defeated her first two opponents but lost her third match to finish fourth overall. The Coldwater boys ended up taking fourth place. In the singles event, four Coldwater boys qualified in the top 32. Making it to round 1, top 16 were Tristan Furney, Bryton Philson, Kaleb Champion, and Brandon Rifenburg. Rifenburg then moved onto the top eight before being eliminated by seven pins.
In middle school basketball, Coldwater’s 8th grade A team lost to Harper Creek 34-26.
Coldwater’s 8th grade White Team also lost to Harper Creek 36-28. Joselyn Salto led Coldwater with 14 points.
Coldwater’s 7th grade A team won at Harper Creek 50-41 as they improved to 8-2. Brooke Moore led Coldwater with 17 points while Anna DeMeester had 16 points.
Coldwater’s 7th grade B team defeated Harper Creek 36-9.
The Bronson 8th graders ended their season by defeating Sturgis 36-15. Skye Woodman led Bronson with 10 points.
Bronson’s 7th grade team lost to Sturgis 25-10.
