COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was ordered to serve between 17 months and five years in the Michigan Department of Corrections Monday morning in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered a no contest plea to a charge of second degree criminal sexual conduct.
As part of a plea bargain agreement that 33-year-old Joseph Iler entered into with Branch County Prosecutor’s Office, another count of second degree C.S.C. was dismissed in exchange for the no contest plea.
Iler was given credit for 113 days already served in the Branch County Jail.
He was charged following a Coldwater Police investigation into an incident last June at a local residence. The victim in the case told Iler in court Monday that she lost all trust in him and that he should get some help.
Iler said he was getting treatment, but the defense was unsuccessful in requesting that he serve his sentence in the Branch County Jail instead of the state prison system.
