A portion of US 12 in Jonesville has been renamed in honor of a Vietnam war hero.
State Representative Eric Leutheuser said on the floor of the Michigan House Wednesday prior to passage of his House Bill 4057, which designates US 12 in the city of Jonesville as the “James Bondsteel Memorial Highway”.
Bondsteel is a Jonesville High School graduate.
He was a U.S. Army Sergeant who received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Vietnam War in 1969.
Bondsteel died in Alaska in 1987.
