PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – In boys ghigh school basketball, Coldwater closed out the regular season with a 70-58 loss at Portage Central Thursday night. The Cardinals finished the regular season at 14-6.
Gage McGuire led the Cardinals with 20 points and six rebounds while Brady Beckhusen had 12 points and McDonald’s Player of the Game Dylan Targgart had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Austin McCullough and Johnny Maier both had 24 points for Portage Central as they improved to 17-3. Portage Central also won the J.V. game 52-38.
Quincy 61, Homer 41
The Quincy Orioles claimed a share of the Big 8 Conference championship on Thursday night with a 61-41 win at Homer. Quincy was led by Nathan Karney with 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals. William Dunn had another double double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Ryan Gibson hit four triples for 12 points. The Orioles are the Big Eight Co-Champions with Concord after Concord defeated Jonesville 58-42. Quincy and Concord’s records are both 13-1 in the conference after each team beat the other one time this season. Quincy is now 16-4 overall.
Union City 58, Athens 44
Union City closed out the regular season with a 58-44 win over Athens in the Indians final Big 8 Conference boys basketball game. The Chargers have won three out of four games. They finished 5-9 in the Big 8 and are 8-12 overall.

Marshall advanced to the championship game of the Coldwater Exchange Club Al Cline Freshman Basketball Tournament at Legg Middle School on Thursday night as they defeated Coldwater 56-37. Dennis Winger led the Cardinals with eight points. Schoolcraft defeated Hillsdale 65-41 in the other game in the tournament on Thursday night.
