UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Between four and six goats were lost in a barn fire south of Union City Monday morning.
The blaze destroyed a steel sided wood frame barn on Francisco Road near Braucker Road.
It was reported at about 9:00 a.m. and Union City Assistant Fire Chief Steve Foster said smoke from the fire could be seen three miles away. The structure was fully involved in flames when fire crews arrived.
It took about 90 minutes to get the fire out. No injuries were reported.
Some equipment was also damaged in the fire but the dollar amount of the damage is undetermined.
The cause of the fire is also under investigation.
Union City firefighters got assistance from Burlington and Coldwater in the form of manpower and tankers.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department Victim Services Unit was also called in.
