JONESVILLE, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles have advanced to the Class C Regionals at Bangor following their 59-49 triumph over Branch County rival Union City on Friday night in the District Finals at Jonesville.
The Chargers hung tough with the Big 8 Conference Co-Champs. Quincy only led 11-10 after the first quarter and 29-23 at the half. The Orioles maintained a slim 40-33 lead after three quarters and they hung on in the final stanza as they won their ninth straight game. Quincy improved their record to 19-4. The Chargers finished 10-13.
Quincy’s Nathan Karney scored a game-high 17 points and dished out six assists. William Dunn added 12 points. He along with Drew Deaton both grabbed six rebounds. Larson Kever led the Chargers with 16 points and nine rebounds while senior Elijah Harris closed out his career with 12 points.
Quincy will face Cassopolis in the regional semifinals at Bangor on Monday night at 5:30 p.m. Cassopolis had to go to double overtime for a second straight game as they defeated Bridgman 60-57 last night to claim the district title at Bridgman.
The second regional semifinal at Bangor Monday night will have Kalamazoo Christian facing Schoolcraft.

—MHSAA Girls Gymnastics Finals—
Two gymnasts from Coldwater will be competing on Saturday at the MHSAA Individual Finals at Plymouth Canton. Brooke Neitzert advanced to the state finals on the balance beam thanks to an eighth place last week during the regional meet while Claire Sheppard advanced to the state finals by finishing sixth in floor exercise at the regionals.
