COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- Three Islamic scholars will be at the Tibbits Opera House Saturday afternoon as the community is invited to attend “Conversations About Islam.”
The free program starts at 2:30pm.
Salwa Alsuraimi from Aira of Coldwater says a number of topics will be discussed. Brother Addullah Shamman, the Imam of Coldwater, Dr. Ali Sulaiman Ali, and Brother Saleem Khalid will take questions from the audience on such topics as women’s roles in Islam, family and Islamophobia.
In addition, Tammi Appman from Tibbits says they will host a noon program next Thursday on Yemani culture in Coldwater. Thursday’s program is also free and no reservations are necessary.
The programs are funded in part by a Michigan Humanities Council Heritage Grant. The program supports projects that help the people of Michigan understand cultural differences by sharing local stories of race, cultural history and personal identity.
